Leviticus 16:29–34 The Day of Atonement
Atonement is the reconciliation of God and mankind through Jesus Christ.
This day (Yom Kippur) is the most solemn day in Israel's calendar.
On the Day of Atonement the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place to
cleanse the sanctuary (removal of sin) and seal the covenant between God and His people.
Leviticus 16:7–10, 20–22 Two Goats
"On the Day of Atonement, two goats were chosen: one for the Lord and one for Azazel, the scapegoat. The first was sacrificed, pointing to Christ’s atoning work. The second was sent into the wilderness, symbolizing the ultimate judgment of Satan. This twofold ritual revealed both God’s innocence and Satan’s guilt, showing that God is our true Defender and Savior. In Jesus, sin is forgiven, evil is unmasked, and God’s people are freed."
